Using a linksys G wireless router and connectors with current Vista drivers. It is able to view and browse other PCs on the network, but no internet connectivity. After installing on a second PC, the second PC lost internet connectivity. Installed SP1 on my main PC with no issues. I am currently troubleshooting the same issue. Please take your time and keep us informed. (We may have to setup the PPPoE connection when connect to the DSL modem directly.) If we are able to connect to the Internet, which means that the Wireless router may come up with the problems, if this is the case, let’s reconnect the router to the home network, let’s try to access the router from IE or ping the default gateway of the router, if we couldn’t access the router, or get the time out result when ping the default gateway, let’s restart the router or re-configure the settings in the router. Then let’s connect the computer to the DSL Modem or LAN connection directly to check if we could access the Internet website. To troubleshoot the wired connection, let’s first check physical cable connections between DSL modem, router and computer. Let’s first focus on the cable connection. I understand that you have lost the Internet connection after installing Vista SP1 RTM, according to your description, we have the Wireless Router in the Home Network Environment. However I heard somewhere that Server 2008 and Vista RC1 use the same system so I think that may be the underlying problem. The Microsoft article here seems to explain it but it only seems to apply to Windows Server 2008. I imagine that you'd get that same message since your problem appears identical to mine. Try that and see if you get the same message. I right clicked the Internet icon - Connect to a network - Right click (affected connection) - Diagnose - I received the following message when trying to diagnose the connection: "The Network adapter "Wireless Network Connection" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol".
The SP1 beta version just came out officially on Update and I thought it would work this time. Uninstalling appeared to fix this problem.
I also pinged my router and got the same exact error. I downloaded SP1 Release Candidate 1 from Windows Update (using a patch somewhere on this forum) and after installing it I lost connectivity.
